Pagan Pride Day

Our Point of View

"Recently an article was posted in the New York Village Voice about political candidate (now New York City Councilman) Dan Halloran. The article quoted a New York City Pagan Pride Spokesperson as saying 'I don't necessarily consider heathens to be pagans'. That quote was taken out of context, in fact, it is not really what the NYCPPP Spokesperson said.

The Asatru religion and other Heathen religions have always been welcomed at Pagan Pride Day, and Local Coordinators try very hard to reach out to their local Heathen groups. Many Pagan Pride events have included Heathen religion workshops and rituals for years. The Project looks forward to continuing to work with Heathens in the future, and hopes those groups will join us again in our shared goal of tolerance for all Pagan faiths. We truly regret any confusion this article may have caused about the Pagan Pride Project's stance on the Heathen faiths.

We also apologize if anyone among the Heathen Community feels this response was delayed. The Project's National Officers initially received a few complaints, and only recently discovered that the anger and confusion was more widespread.

Anyone who wants to further discuss this issue can contact the National President, Brian Ewing, whose email can be found here on the Pagan Pride Project Contact List
